How best to photograph a horse
Very much depends on the exterior of the horse, it is possible to learn a lot about the merits or demerits of the animal. That is why it is so important which photo to place on an ad in magazines or on the Internet. The most striking is the classic exterior photo of a horse, on which it stands sideways to the one who is shooting.
In order for a horse to turn out in a photograph in all its glory, it is not at all necessary to be a professional photographer and have a super-camera. The main thing here is not the work of the photographer, but how the guide will put the horse in front of the lens. As a rule, a person stands in front of a horse, holding the reins slightly apart.
He can move away from the horse’s head and hold the reins at the very ends. Or he can even remove the reason, after properly putting the horse. True, not all horses are capable of such feats, but some can stand for a few seconds in the right posture. To best show the horse in the illustration, there are several basic rules.
First, it is necessary to begin all this action with careful preparation. It should be well cleaned horse, comb the tail and mane, wash up the hooves. Now start searching for the desired location. It is important to choose the right background, surface and lighting. The background is not motley, it’s good if, for example, it is a plain wall. The surface on which the horse will stand must be flat, the grass is not desirable, as it will cover the hoof. The best lighting is natural. Ideally, the sun, to which the photographer should stand back. If it shines in the horse’s face or tail, the shadows will not go where it is needed. The distance from the horse to the photographer is about six meters. When exterior shooting does not need to saddle a horse. Enough or halter or bridle without a capsule.
Secondly, it is necessary to correctly position the animal. There are several generally accepted rules.
The most effective horse looks in the so-called attention pose – the head is raised, the ears are pointed. There should be a feeling that the horse saw something in the distance that interested her. In order to achieve such a posture, you can, firstly, draw a horse’s attention with something: for example, bring another horse. Secondly, you can simply support the horse’s head in the desired position with your hand, but watch out for this, so that the hand does not cover the face.
The horse must show its neck. In this, she should, of course, help, completely removing the mane on the side, which will not be visible in the photo. If there is no mane, then shooting is carried out where the brand is located (left)
The horse on the exterior photos is to us in profile. It must be strictly in the same plane. That is, if we draw a line from the lens to the line on which the horse stands, the angle between them will be 90 *. Remember that if a horse leaves some part of the desired plane, the proportions may be distorted.
It is necessary that all the legs of a horse are visible, therefore its back “distant” foot should be slightly advanced, and the front “far”, on the contrary, back.
Remember the main thing – all the lines and proportions should be clearly visible on the exterior photo. A good photo can be a weighty argument for the buyer. And before taking pictures, have patience: for a good shot, sometimes you need to spend a lot of time.
