How to develop the Russian horse-breeding
Russian horse breeding should be divided into three completely independent types, equally oppressed by unfavorable economic conditions, but requiring completely different measures for its prosperity.
Thus, the breeding of mass, mostly peasants, did not constitute a separate sector of the economy, and only inevitable it belongs; the Patriarchal breeding, herd, surviving nomads and dying, like any Patriarchal form and lastly the horse breeding cultural heritage of large estates, which are private agricultural sector of the fishery.
The wealth of the Russian Empire horses very much; on the basis of the Washington Department of agriculture the total number of horses on the globe is determined in 60.455.044 of the head; of this number is in Russia 30.339.188, in other words, more than half. Horse breeds are grouped into several main groups
There are more than 200 breeds of horses bred for a variety of purposes. They differ in type, exterior, body size, performance.
In foreign powers, along with thoroughbred horse, bred Polish horse, Andalusian (Spanish) horse, American horse and many others.
The greatest distribution in modern Russia received such horses as Akhal-Teke, Arab, thoroughbred horse, don, Budennovskiy, trakenenskaya, Ukrainian riding horse, Tersk, Kabardians, Caribbean, Orlov trotters, Russian trotters, draught Latvian, Russian, Soviet and Vladimir heavy truck.
A large group of modern breeds of horses, specialized in working qualities and having high performance, was bred under the weakened influence of natural climatic conditions. Continue reading

The history of horse breeding was and will be determined by the desires of man. For centuries, man showed only gastronomic interest in horses. On horses were hunted, as well as on all wild animals.
